Join us for the opening of two new exhibitions at Horsham Regional Art Gallery.
Curated by Belinda Eckermann, Material Origins brings together artists whose practices are shaped by the materials of the Wimmera. Using locally sourced, reclaimed and everyday materials, the exhibition explores connections between landscape, labour, history and creative making, revealing how the region’s material culture continues to inform contemporary art.
The difference between here and there presents new work by local artist, Paul Blackman. Inspired by the forms of rural industry across the Wimmera and Mallee, Blackman uses virtual reality to construct expansive digital environments that are later transformed into photographic works. The exhibition invites audiences to consider the relationship between virtual and physical space, and how perception, memory and imagination shape our experience of the world.
Join us for light refreshments as we celebrate the opening of these two compelling exhibitions.
